This is Turov on Timing for Tuesday, October 4, 2011.
The October monthly issue of Turov on Timing is attached. Please note that the $1,000 fee described in that report is waived for all TOT subscribers.
The SPX declined 32.19 points yesterday to close at 1099.23. TOT daily traders were on the sidelines for the session.
Since initiation of the Turov on Timing service on September 30, 1993, our daily trader recommendations have gained 12415.94 cumulative SPX points, compared to a gain of 640.30 points in the index itself over the same period. That’s a ratio of 19.39 to one.
The super long term perspective for the stock market remains bearish (as it has been since January 2000 after having been bullish from December 1974 until then). When the current cyclical bull market ends (and at present, it is quite possible that it has already ended, the major doubt factors being the upcoming presidential election, the European debt crisis, and the Congressional budget battles), expect another nasty crash to perhaps finally bring an end to the long term bear market that began in 2000.
The Intermediate Term Model has upticked from bearish to bullish. Repeating, the Intermediate Term Model is now bullish.
I consider yesterday very positive. Normally the first trading day of the month is a very good day to be long. But our analysis Friday showed that that edge was lacking for yesterday, as so we stayed on the sidelines. A damn good call, if I do say so myself.
The daily model is bullish for tomorrow. TOT daily traders are advised to go 400% long at SPX 1102 stop. If the SPX declines to 1096 prior to reaching 1102, lower the entry level buy stop to SPX 1100. And for each additional 2 point decline, lower the stop by an equivalent 2 points.
After you go long, use a 1% protective sell stop on the position. If still long as we approach the close, I’ll update prior to the close. If not still long as we approach the close, the next report will be in 24 hours.
Thanks for the opportunity to be of service, and I will update again as per the prior paragraph.
