This is Turov on Timing for Wednesday, April 6, 2011.
After a miniscule 0.46 point gain on Monday, the SPX declined a miniscule 0.24 point yesterday to close at 1332.63. TOT daily traders were on the sidelines for the session and missed absolutely nothing.
Since initiation of the Turov on Timing service on September 30, 1993, our daily trader recommendations have gained 12377.05 cumulative SPX points, compared to a gain of 873.70 points in the index itself over the same period. That’s a ratio of 14.17 to one.
The super long term perspective for the stock market remains bearish (as it has been since January 2000 after having been bullish from December 1974 until then). When the current cyclical bull market ends, expect another nasty crash to perhaps finally bring an end to the long term bear market that began in 2000.
The Intermediate Term Model remains bullish.
The daily model is extremely bullish today. TOT daily traders are advised to go a maximally bullish 500% long at SPX 1334 stop. If the SPX declines to 1330 before reaching 1334, then lower the entry buy stop to SPX 1332. And if the SPX continues to decline, lower your entry stop by 2 points for each equivalent 2 point decline in the Index. Once you have gone long, use a 1% protective sell stop on the position.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: As I write this, my internet service provider, Time Warner Cable, is having intermittent outages in my area. So I might not be able to update whenever I want. They are sending out a technician after the market closes this afternoon – the first available appointment – and that should solve the problem for tomorrow, but not for today. This will not affect managed account trading, which I can do by telephone. BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, IF I DO NOT UPDATE PRIOR TO THE CLOSE, AND IF YOU ARE STILL LONG AS WE APPROACH THE CLOSE, SELL THE POSITION ON THE CLOSE AND GO OVERNIGHT FLAT.
Thanks for the opportunity to be of service, and I’ll email you again whenever there is a need, subject to the prior paragraph’s limitations.
